Yesterday we saw The Host, which is great. It's hard to characterize -- sometimes comedy, sometimes horror, sometimes satire. The segues from humor to fright to political jab are deft, though, so all the pieces fit together well. I loved the creature, it's yucky and scary and has a nifty way of swinging around underneath bridges. The characters are good, too -- sketched out in the first five minutes, but over the course of the film becoming fully dimensional. AND, it has a plucky kid! (I love movies with plucky kids.) RM liked it too -- two thumbs up!
