We saw Ghost Rider yesterday, and while RM wanted to see it more than I did, we both came out of it agreeing it was just OK. Nick Cage substitutes a collection of quirks for developing a character. (To be fair, Cage as the Ghost Rider is weirdly more compelling than Cage as Johnny Blaze.) Eva Mendes is pretty good as his long-ago first love, but not at all plausible as an on-camera news person. Even Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles teeters on the brink -- sometimes good, sometimes not so much. Donal Logue (in the first half of the film) and Sam Elliot (in the second half) pretty much save the movie.
(RM says I'm being a little too harsh, and reminds me that some individual scenes in the movie were really good, even if the whole was less so.)
