RM and I made our annual (well, in this case more like semi-annual) pilgrimage to Vegas. I had not intended to abstain from the Internet on this trip, but someone STOLE 1) the power cord to my iBook, 2) the cord to connect the iPod with the iBook, and 3) the cord to connect the digital camera to the iBook, right out of our suitcase!

ETA: Um. Well, it turns out that ... well, really no one wants to steal a $20 cable, because after I posted this I found the cords were on the counter in the kitchen. The deodorant really did disappear, though.

I was not foolish enough to pack the laptop, camera, or iPod in checked luggage, but I thought the cords would be safe enough, because who wants to steal a $20 cable? Apparently, the same person who wants to steal a partially used container of Gillette Edge deodorant, because RM's deodorant also failed to arrive in Vegas. We had to make a trip to Walgreen's to replace that and also to pick up some ibuprofen. This led (note: LED, not LEAD) to the delightful discovery that the Walgreen's house brand of ibuprofen is called Walprofen. I think we're gonna be calling it that from now on around here.

I used a precious 5 percent of the 20 percent power on my battery to Google the whereabouts of the Apple Store in Vegas. Sadly, the Apple Store let me down by failing to have the appropriate power cord for my iBook in stock. We sought solace in shopping, finding success at Macy's (two pairs of shoes for me) and Hot Topic (some nifty striped thigh-highs for me and several shorts for RM).

Aside from the shopping, Vegas was great: Dinner at the Stratosphere (insanely overpriced but the view is amazing); lunch at the Hofbrau House (sister to the one in Munich), which was *hilarious* and also had yummy, yummy food; and a $16-dollar strawberry daiquiri (which surpassed the $13.50 Manhattan I had at the Ritz-Carlton bar as the most ridiculously expensive drink I have personally consumed).

We also went to a UFC event and watched, with regret, as Rich Franklin lost the middleweight title to Anderson Silva. (No reflection on Silva, he's a great fighter and earned the victory, but Franklin is such a good guy it was sad to see him lose. Also, his nose after the fight looked like something never before seen on a human face.)

We also had dinner at Red Dawn Square, which was fairly unremarkable except that I like calling it Red Dawn Square, because Mark likes the restaurant a lot more than I do, so I enjoy mocking it.
