So, I got a call from a political pollster today -- it wasn't a live person, it was recorded, and then you pressed 1 for very satisfied, 2 for somewhat satisfied, etc. It was so weird! Some of it was relatively generic: What party do you identify yourself as? If the democratic primary were held today, who would you vote for? If the general election were held today, who would you vote for? On the issue of [foreign policy, abortion, religion in society, gay marriage] who do you think is better, Dubya or [the Democratic nominee of your choice]?
And then there were questions like, do you think America is going in the right direction or off on the wrong track? Well, both and neither. Or my favorite: Who do you think is winning the war on terrorism? Press 1 for the U.S. and its allies, press 2 for the terrorists, press 3 for neither. What do you press if you think the war on terrorism is a farce?
And, you know, I played along, because if they're doing anything genuine with the info I want my contrary views represented. But I'm kinda scared of what they're going to do with my info.
