miscellaneous notes on things:

* Reading Harry Dresden novels before bed leads to some creepy dreams.
* RM & I went to see VNV Nation and And One at the 9:30 Club Thursday night. He was instigator, but I enjoyed myself more than I expected (I just kept flashing back to Depeche Mode, circa 1985).
* The video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Hump de Bump" possesses all the subtlety (but, unfortunately, none of the irony) of Black People Love Us.
* Jennifer Crusie has some really good things to say about rape romances.
* movie seen: Disturbia is a little bit remake-of-rear-window and a lot run-of-the-mill horror movie, but it benefits from really strong performances by Shia LaBeouf, David Morse, Aaron Yoo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. (Sarah Roemer did a decent job, I think, but her role bears little to no resemblance to an actual teenage girl.) Also -- and this is rarer than you might think -- no one in the movie is dumb.
