It is INSANELY cold outside. Most people reading this probably live around here and already know just how cold it is, but for the benefit of those in warmer climes let me say again, it is INSANELY cold!!
It's supposed to go down to 8 degrees tonight. *8*!!
I was doing a crossword puzzle on my way home, and on the bus my pen worked just fine, and on the train my pen worked just fine, but on the (outside and elevated for maximum windchill) subway platform, the ink FROZE.
Also, I forgot to wear mittens today. On my way to work this morning, I just pulled the sleeves of my hoodie down around my hands and shoved my hands in my pockets. But on the way home I had to stop at Popeye's (RM was home all day with a migraine, and when I asked if I could bring him anything, he asked me to stop at Popeye's, and he sounded so pathetic I couldn't say no).
It's only one measly block from the Metro to our house, but just try walking that block with no mittens and carrying a cold fountain drink in each hand. By the time I got to our door, my hands were so numb I almost couldn't work the keys in the lock.
(RM scoffs at my whining and reminds me it is not *nearly* as cold as pulling guard duty outside during a South Korean winter when it's 35 below.)
