-- Those Quizno's ads? The ones where they go on about all the meat piled on the Quizno's subs vs. the Subway subs? This is why Americans are obese. No one really needs THAT much deli meat.

-- Those Old Spice ads? The one with Bruce Campbell (the chin!) walking in front of the endless ship painting rambling "if you have it, you can get, but people can tell when you've never had it .." Or even better, the one with the guy in the locker room talking about manly activities like "football, recon, and frenching"? and how if you don't like Old Spice they'll send you a stick deodorant with the scent of "wildflowers and shame"? Those are EXCELLENT.

-- Also, HBO has purchased the rights to George R.R. Martin's as-yet-unfinished fantasy saga, the Song of Fire and Ice. This has the potential to be really, really good.

-- And Gerard Butler (Dracula 2000! And Timelines! And other, more well-known movies in which I don't love him as much!) is starring as King Leonidas in "300," based on Frank Miller's graphic retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. The only bad thing is apparently they **changed the phalanx** so it would look cooler when they filmed it. Which just seems like the wrong kind of historical liberty.

-- Also, apparently they (they who?) have decided that people will be weirdly sympathetic toward Hannibal Lecter no matter what, and so they are giving in and trying to make him sympathetic the ONLY way you could conceivably make a serial killer sympathetic: His victims are *Nazis*.

I was going to close with CUTE! pictures of a polar bear cub (gakked from [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbbeth and [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda), but they aren't popping up on google, so you'll just have to find them for yourself.
