So I'm watching a rerun of the World Series of Pop Culture, and there are these two guys answering questions about alternative music. One of'em is a wholesome-looking guy in a polo shirt and khakis; the other has black jeans and cool stubble and a black leather jacket.

But for his first question, Mr. Cool barely remembers the name of the lead singer of the Smiths (Morrissey), and for his second question, he is unable to name the Clash album that featured "Train in Vain" and "Lost in the Supermarket." (Wholesome Guy promptly steals it with "London Calling.") At this point Mr. Cool is squirming with discomfort, and I am yelling "Poseur!" in my living room.

Per Wikipedia: "A poseur is a person who adopts the dress, speech, and/or mannerisms of a subculture for personal gain or in order to manipulate or impress others." You would think at my age I would've stopped thinking you could assume ANYthing from what someone's wearing.
