I'm an apple that fell way the hell away from the tree

Both sides of my family are from South Carolina (first to secede!), and not six months ago I visited Gettysburg. But just now, for work-related reasons, I needed to know which side wore blue and which side wore gray in the Civil War -- and I had No Idea.

I had to call RM (the guy with 80 zillion military history books) and ask. (I could've called my parents, but I'd never hear the end of it -- they've been teasing me about being a Yankee since I was three years old.)
