Aug. 17th, 2005 09:36 pmI hate when shows do things that are stupid.
Like, just now on Veronica Mars, Veronica and the journalism substitute (played by Joey Lauren Adams) got yelled at by the principal for publishing an article in the student paper about bomb threats. And I don't even remember what the principal said, but he paused, and the perfect retort would have been, "because the Supreme Court upheld freedom of speech for students."
Because it did: Tinker v. DesMoines, 1969. Abe Fortas said, “Neither students nor teachers shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate."
And most high school students don't know that, but Veronica? She would know that.
I know, I know, deer don't talk. And it's only by chance that I know that, I can't really expect a television scriptwriter to know it. But *still*.
