Apr. 5th, 2005 09:37 pmSaw Sin City this morning (I'm *still* on sabbatical, and CGU is on the 2-to-10 shift, so yeah, we can see a movie on a weekday morning). It's visually striking, but that was to be expected. It's very *very* gory -- and blood that isn't red is, wow, still pretty darn gory. And more than the blood, the crazy things that lead to all the bloodshed are --
holy cow, House knows every tie that Wilson owns and which day of the week he wears it! Could the man be more in love?? [Sorry for the interruption, but House is on right now, and they are SO doing it!!]
-- bloodshed are things that will stick in your head more than you want them to (and I'll never look at Elijah Wood the same way again). But still, even though the villains are really dastardly and the heroes are almost as bad, I left the movie feeling sort of *inspired*, wanting to do crazy, foolish, self-sacrificing things in the name of love.
I could only wish for more well-rounded female characters. Well -- let me qualify that -- they're all *very* well-rounded, physically (Carla Gugino even has a teeny bit of a tummy, which I was pleased to see), but they're all kinda the same flavor of fierce hottie.
