CGU and I saw Dawn of the Dead on Sunday. Yowza! Granted, we're both big fans of zombie movies, but this was a particularly good one. It had humor, drama, and TONS of suspense, and not one false note in the whole movie. Scared the living shit out of us, though. As Colin Farrell would say, "I should've worn brown trousers." On the way home, we made plans to build a fortress in West Virginia and stock it with 10 years' worth of food. Mark pointed out that if he got turned, he'd still have a residual memory of the location. I said, "Don't take this the wrong way, but if you show up at the door I'm gonna greet you with a shotgun until I know for sure you're human."
Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, and Mekhi Phifer were all solid, as were unknowns (at least to me) Michael Kelly, Jake Weber, and Ty Burrell. Oh, and Matt Frewer (Max Headroom) had a small but really well done role.
Detail that I loved: The refugees in the mall hang out at a coffee shop called "Hallowed Grounds." Heh.
