Feb. 17th, 2004 10:57 amAfter posting last night, got caught up in John Sayles' Lone Star -- such a good movie! He has a knack for casting strong actors and really giving them the opportunity to shine, in a quiet, careful way. He's also very deft with his treatment of race and ethnicity. My favorite quote from the movie:
"It's always heartening to see a prejudice defeated by a deeper prejudice."
I'm such a brat though, practically every time there was a tender scene between Chris Cooper and Elisabeth Pena, I'd tell the TV, "Aw, they're still sweet on each other, it's so cute, even though she's his ( SPOILER )."
