You're a great mom. And yes, women can be firefighters -- there were women firefighters in the mid-1980s at the biggest fire I wrote about as a newspaper reporter. It was a restaurant on a lake, mid-winter, whose wiring caught on fire; the temperature was -20, they were pumping lake water onto the fire through a hole chopped in the ice, and women were among the firefighters putting on breathing gear and going into the burning building.
(That inspired me to see if I could take the training that would let me put on breathing apparatus and walk around inside a burning building, and the newspaper was willing for me to do it and write about it and so was the fire company, but the owner of the condemned house wouldn't let them burn it, so I didn't do it. But yes, there were women. Definitely.)
