movie seen:
RM and I were both mightily impressed with Daniel Craig's performance in Casino Royale, so we've been keeping an eye out, waiting for Layer Cake (one of his earlier films) to show up on cable. It finally did on Sunday night, and as soon as the Police finished singing Roxanne at the Grammy awards, we switched over to LC.
We both liked it, everyone in it was good, etc., etc. It's always nice to see Colm Meaney, and Siena Miller was solid (and, oddly, almost unrecognizable) in a small role. The twists and turns were confusing to me, but then I'm one of those people who is almost always confused by twists and turns. (I have an irritating habit of plaguing RM with, "Wait a minute, was that the guy who ...?" during any kind of twisty movie.) There are many intentionally funny moments, and one unintentionally funny moment when Daniel Craig looks around a doorframe with the gun held up by his face, and it's the classic James Bond pose.
But the ending SUCKS. I can't say any more than that, and even that is probably too much. But it bit. It bit HARD.
I also watched most of the Ringer, which is not a great movie, but (as has been well-publicized) is not as mean-spirited as you might think a movie with Johnny Knoxville faking a mental disability would be. I think my favorite part was when they used the music from the Magnificent Seven.
