Thoughts on Lost:
* Sawyer/Kate: It's the new Spuffy. Except I haven't quite figured out who's who, because Kate is starting to seem like even more of a criminal than Sawyer. (Who, by the way, is the new Kirk. Has he managed to keep his shirt on for even one entire episode?) And that part where he dropped the suitcase out of the tree and she scampered through and took it? That was Wile Coyote and Road Runner. There is nothing new under the sun.
* Locke can't be taking Lifeguard Boy seriously, so what the heck is he up to?
* Where did the monster go? The first two or three episodes we heard growling every couple hours -- the've shelved that storyline for too long.
* And I like that little flash of flirtiness between Sayyid and Shannon, but what was with the Flowers in the Attic jealousy of Boone? Also, Boone gets way too much of his identity from being the "useful" twin. I'm sorry, if you add up everything they've done and the positive or negative effects, Shannon might not have done much, but at least she came through when she was supposed to -- she translated the becon message, and she lit the bottle-rocket fuse, and she solved the mystery of the writing by the equations. Lifeguard Boy? He almost killed Rose with his inept CPR, and then he almost drowned trying to save that other woman (who *did* die because Jack had to save Boone instead of her), and when he was asked to light the bottle rocket he bailed to go flutter around by the cave-in, and when Jack was trying to talk Shanon down from her asthma atack, all LB did was panic and increase her anxiety. He's all about trying to be a hero, but he doesn't have the follow-through, and he winds up doing more harm than good.
There's more valor in staying out of the way and working on your tan than in "helping" in a way that could kill somebody.
