Water water everywhere ...
In the wake of VVC, all these folks are making their vids available for download as .avi files, and I can't figure out how to watch them!
I have a Mac with OSX, and when I download the files they have Quicktime icons, and when I try to open them I get a Quicktime window, and I press play, and nothing happens -- no sound, no pictures, just a little doo-hickey moving across a bar to indicate that something is playing.

smaragdgrun was over here tonight, and at her suggestion I downloaded and installed DivX 5.2, then tried to play an .avi vid, but I can't open it with Realplayer or DivX, and with Quicktime I'm still getting the blank, silent window.
If you use a Mac and you can successfully play .avi files, PLEASE share with me how you manage that. I'm dyin' here.
